The startup launched services in early 2020 in fortuitous timing for the radical shift to remote working brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic.
SafetyWing operates in the burgeoning field of insurtech and provides insurance cover to remote workforces – or ‘digital nomads’ – through its Remote Health product, especially those working across borders and in different jurisdictions.
Chief executive Sondre Rasch said that companies that have started hiring outside their countries have faced these challenges for the first time.
"The infrastructure is built for a local company hiring locally," he said. "Remote Health is a dashboard so you can add team members and they can be in Ireland, United States, Singapore or Chile and they can get health insurance and employees or contractors can also move. It's making it easy for this type of remote organisation to give benefits for their workers."
