We are thrilled to announce our recent investment in Supernormal, an AI company that is revolutionizing the way information and decisions travel within companies while fundamentally limiting the countless hours and resources spent in meetings.

As AI continues to make strides in its capabilities, we are seeing an increasing number of companies using generative AI to streamline and automate various aspects of their operations. Stable Diffusion and ChatGPT have been great for giving the general public a “wow” moment for what AI can do. And with the recent shift towards hybrid work, the need for efficient and effective ways of sharing and contextualizing decisions and action points in the organization has never been greater.

We all spend a significant amount of time in video meetings every week. Meetings are where we share the most important information and make the most impactful decisions. But how do we share this information effectively and align on a shared understanding of the decisions we have made?

We believe that similarly to how every company has a system for creating slides, spreadsheets and documents, every company will have a system to automatically record what is discussed and decided in meetings. This hub will be heavily interlinked with workflows in the company, and integrations will make sure action items are funneled through to the right set of tools and people.

We imagine a future where decisions are automatically communicated to the stakeholders that need them, tasks are automatically created in task management software, and ideas are put in the backlog to be followed up on. Information, decisions, and tasks across a company are easily distilled and resurfaced, removing the need for additional meetings and the wasteful practice of people joining meetings passively just to “listen in” so they don’t miss anything important.

Gone are also the days where employees would come back from vacation and spend days playing catch up, or when new hires would spend weeks getting on-boarded and up to speed about what is going on in their department.

With Supernormal, this future is not far-fetched, and it all starts with radically changing how people take and share meeting notes.

Detailed meeting notes without lifting a finger

Taking notes can be a time-consuming and tedious task. Not only does it take effort and focus away from the meeting itself, but it also slows down the process of sharing knowledge and aligning stakeholders who weren't present. This is where Supernormal comes in. Supernormal addresses this issue by using a fine-tuned Large Language Model to automatically generate meeting summaries, decisions, and action points.

The moment the video call ends, Supernormal will have generated the notes and takes you to their editor to swiftly clean them up. This editing process provides a feedback loop, allowing Supernormal to continuously fine-tune their models to generate even better notes. This approach not only saves time and effort but also ensures that important information and decisions are communicated to the right stakeholders in a timely manner.

There are many automatic note-taking apps out there, but extracting the important parts of large amounts of text like this has only recently become possible. We've tried most existing solutions, but none come close to what Supernormal can do today. In a world where machine understanding of language becomes commoditized, the most important differentiator becomes providing a fantastic user experience, while collecting a differentiated dataset to fine-tune the large language models. Supernormal does this exceptionally well.

The founders of Supernormal, Colin and Fabian, bring a wealth of experience from some of the world's top companies, including Meta, Github, and Klarna. They have assembled a stellar team with backgrounds from Stripe, Microsoft, and Fin. This combination of experience and expertise is evident in the fantastic user experience that Supernormal provides, and we cannot wait to see the Supernormal platform evolve and the impact their technology will have on the way we all work.

Supernormal joins our now sizeable portfolio of incredible AI-enabled companies, including Corti (AI for patient consultations), Uizard (UI design tool), Ento Labs (energy optimization in buildings), Spoke (contextualizing work for product teams), Rune (squad discovery for mobile gamers), and Zefram (sales automation).
