Behind the Numbers: Welcoming Frans to the byFounders Operations Team

With experience spanning London startups, climate-focused SaaS, and venture investing, Frans brings a global perspective—and a sharp analytical mind—to the inner workings of our fund. As a Finance & Fund Ops Associate, he’ll support our VP of Finance & Fund Operations, Jacob, on everything from KPI tracking to investor reporting.

Before joining byFounders, Frans cut his teeth in the London startup scene, working on growth and go-to-market at a pre-seed EdTech company while completing his Bachelor’s at King’s College London. He later joined the investment team at a London/Copenhagen-based VC firm and most recently worked at a travel-focused climate tech startup helping businesses reduce their emissions. Now, alongside his new role, he’s pursuing a Master’s in Advanced Economics and Finance at CBS.

Frans originally got into VC as a way to prepare for founding his own company—wanting to learn what it really takes to build something from the ground up. But along the way, he got hooked on the work itself: the pace, the people, and the problem-solving. With his finance studies in full swing and a growing curiosity for the mechanics behind capital deployment, byFounders felt like the natural next step.

“I’m mostly excited about diving into the engine room of the fund—understanding how capital is deployed, managed, and reported. It’s a unique opportunity to get a full picture of how a VC operates behind the scenes.”

While Frans won’t be on the investment side, he’s especially interested in how data can drive better decisions.

“In a space where data is often hard to standardize,” he says, “there’s a big opportunity to use KPIs to generate deeper insights and more informed outcomes.”

When he’s not digging into portfolio metrics, you’ll likely find him on a long run through Copenhagen—still mapping out the city one kilometer at a time. Although he calls London, Malmö, and Copenhagen home, he’s not quite ready to settle down just yet.

He’s also a passionate cinephile, a global politics enthusiast, and—fun fact—a former competitive pétanque player. (Yes, seriously.)
