Why we invested in Intric

AI is rapidly becoming one of the most important technological shifts of our time. 

And while it’s disrupting everything from consumer apps to productivity tools, we believe the most meaningful impact will come from empowering the institutions that hold society together - governments, municipalities, and public agencies -  to deliver better services, improve decision-making, and support citizens more effectively.

Intric is building the sovereign AI platform to make that possible.

A mission-driven team building for real societal impact

When we first met David Wallén, Jonatan Cerwall and the Intric team this summer, we immediately came away impressed by their technical strength, ambition and clarity of mission.

We spoke with people they’ve worked with, and the feedback was consistent: this is a team that is structured, diligent, and deeply committed to building a product that users genuinely love.

What stood out most was their belief in AI as a force for good.

David and the team are driven by a mission to use AI to elevate humanity, by helping institutions work better for the people they serve.

A sovereign-first wedge in a critical market

Intric develops a sovereign AI platform that enables organisations to build, share, and deploy tailor-made AI agents and assistants across teams and departments; without compromising security, regulatory compliance, or data control.

The platform is fully developed in Sweden and designed specifically for organisations with the highest demands on trust and sovereignty.

This creates a uniquely strong position through the combination of:

Timing is right: Europe needs independent AI infrastructure

Across Europe, public institutions are facing growing complexity: demographic shifts, rising demand for services, and increasing expectations to modernize operations and use resources effectively.

At the same time, knowledge is often distributed across policy documents, intranets, case-handling tools, and legacy systems.

AI has enormous potential here; by supporting people (rather than replacing them) through agents that can execute workflows responsibly, with the right approvals and audit trails.

In today’s geopolitical landscape, the demand for AI platforms developed in Europe will only continue to grow.

As Carl-Henric Svanberg, former Chairman of Volvo and chair to the Commission on AI to the Swedish government, notes:

“There should be no trade-off between efficient AI adoption and strong requirements on data security and sovereignty.”

Intric has built the full stack to meet this reality: European-first, on-prem capable, and designed for sovereignty from day one.

Real traction and a pan-European opportunity

Intric is already seeing significant adoption: The platform is in use by more than 60 organisations across Sweden, Finland, Norway, and Germany, powering over 5,000 AI agents and assistants.

The team works closely with customers to continuously improve the platform around real-world workflows - building alongside the institutions adopting it.

We believe AI will fundamentally change the world. But for this change to be positive for society, governments and enterprises need to adopt AI securely, independently, and with full control over their data.
